Front-End Developer creating awesome experiences for ecommerce, marketing, and SaaS companies

About

Hi, I'm Jonathan. I'm a Front-End Designer/Developer living in New York, by way of California, by way of Florida. I've always gravitated toward art, design, and music - which has helped form the person I am today.

In 2005, I packed my bags and left my home state of Florida to pursue an art career in San Francisco. I worked for various artists and then landed my first full-time job as a production associate building molds at a warehouse. After a few years, I decided to shift direction and head back to school to gain some lucrative digital skills.

I graduated with an MFA from the Academy of Art in 2012. Here, I focused on the technology side of web design, learned fundamentals of design and front-end code, and dipped my toes in the UX world. I became very interested in experimental, multimedia and audio reactive visualizations and how this could transform a person’s experience during live performances. This passion was the driving force behind my thesis project called Experience Krautrock - an interactive and 3D audio reactive web experience utilizing basic WebGL objects meant to entertain users who are into Krautrock.

As I progressed in my career, I was itching to enhance my interactive skills. I dove into a 3-month part-time immersive JavaScript Development course at General Assembly. In 2018, I finished the course having completed 2 major projects and with a working knowledge of vanilla JavaScript fundamentals, DOM manipulation, objects & JSON, and how to consume data from REST APIs. Shortly afterward, I made another life transition and moved across the country - back to the east coast - but this time my destination was New York.
